PEER SUPPORT

During the first semester of Year 11 students run weekly Peer Support classes with their Year 7 group to help them adjust to secondary school.

In this program, Year 7 students develop a range of skills including assertiveness, decision making and good communication.

Weekly meetings of teacher trainers and Year 11 students occur to discuss any problems and develop strategies for dealing with these.

COMPUTERS

Technology Studies has been a priority development area for our college in recent years.

This area of our curriculum is widely perceived as one of our greatest strengths.

There are five main Computer Rooms, with a mixture of iMac and eMac computers, as well as eMacs in the Library and in a number of smaller locations around the college.
There are also four Computer Pods, accessed via general classrooms.

The computer rooms are available for student use at lunchtime including 2 rooms for V.C.E. students.

Supervised Internet access is also available for student use at lunchtime as well as during certain classes.

LITERACY CENTRE

This is a special room where students can read quietly and gain assistance from a full-time teacher aide. A wide range of fiction books at varying levels is provided, as well as other activities.

MUSIC AND DRAMA

Students have the opportunity to learn an instrument of their choosing, join one of our 5 Bands and take part in the annual Music and Drama Production.

PASTORAL CARE

All teachers are Home Group teachers and help students develop good study habits as well as acting as a point of contact for organisational and other matters.

A small group of teachers have been trained to work on a regular basis with individual students who may be at risk in some way.
