Looking back on Science Week

Science week at Braybrook College ran a bit differently, this year but lots of students still took the opportunity to get involved, get creative and celebrate science even while learning remotely. The ‘Braybrook
College Science Week’ website was a hub connecting students with different activities

students to access interesting documentaries, TV
shows and articles about nature, space, engineering
and other exciting science topics. For the budding
astronomers out there the ‘Backyard Astronomy’
activities encouraged students to learn about our
solar system and universe through observations and
experiments they could conduct in their own backyards.

Over 130 students took part in the Science Trivia Kahoot
Challenge that ran throughout the week. Many students
tried the challenge multiple times to improve their
standings but science knowledge and quick responses
led Cindy Tran of Year 12 to the top of the leaderboard.

The Nature in Lockdown Photography Competition
allowed students to combine their interests in art
and science. We received many stunning entries
showcasing the natural beauty that surrounds us in our
backyards and local parks. The full gallery of entries is
available to be viewed through the website. Ashley Mae
Sabado Mendoza of Year 9 took home first prize with
her colourful and creative entry. (see above)

Well done to all the staff and students who got involved
and made Science Week 2020 at Braybrook College a
resounding success!
