Athletics day sees Centaur staying on top

After last year’s hiatus, the annual Athletics Carnival returned this year on Tuesday the 27th of April at Newport Athletics Track. Students competed from Years 7 to 11. Our four Houses, Centaur, Gryphon, Pegasus and Phoenix battled it out for this year’s Athletics title.

After last year’s hiatus, the annual Athletics Carnival returned this year on Tuesday the 27th of April at Newport Athletics Track. Students competed from Years 7 to 11 and it was the first Athletics carnival for both our year 7 and year 8 students. Our four Houses, Centaur, Gryphon, Pegasus and Phoenix battled it out for this year’s Athletics title.  Students wore their House colours proudly and competed in a range of track and field events.

The four Houses competed throughout the day and it became a very close race between Centaur and Phoenix Houses in particular. Everyone performed very well but in the end the House that won with a lead of only 18 points was Centaur House led by Mr M. Spiteri and Mr Martino, followed by Phoenix, coming in a close second.

A very big thank you must go to Mr Baker for organising the day and the many staff and student helpers that worked tirelessly to make the day a great success for all.
