COVID-19 and School Holidays - UPDATE 23/3/20

Monday 23rd March, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians/Carers,

Just to keep you all in the loop, this is the message that I relayed to staff and students at the end of today:

As per the Department of Education and Training memo this afternoon, school holidays for students commence from tomorrow, Tuesday 24th March.
Term 2 is expected to start on Wednesday 15th April, unless otherwise advised.
The school will be open from 9am until 4pm every day for the remainder of this week.
The Principal Class team and all Education Support Staff will be at school for the remainder of this week.
This week, teachers can work at school or remotely to prepare for the possibility of online teaching and learning commencing Term 2.  Teachers are not expected to provide students with work this week.
-Take your workbooks and textbooks home today
-If you do not have a laptop, please see one of the Assistant Principals before you go home
-From Wednesday 15th April, if the school must remain closed, we will be commencing our online teaching and learning program
-Each day, you will be expected to follow the school timetable and your teachers will post information about lessons on your Compass Class News Feed, so make sure you check this on a daily basis
-Please do your best to complete the work provided by your teachers and communicate with them throughout the closure, ask questions, clarify understandings and maintain progress with your studies
I will keep providing everyone with Department of Education and Training updates as I receive them
Please look after each other and stay safe.
If you have any questions or concerns, please see one of the Principal Class team before you leave today or ring me on 0412 537 469.

Further Communication with Parents/Guardians/Carers
In order to communicate our commitment to provide care and support for children of essential service workers and vulnerable children, I provide the following message:

  1. Children of essential service workers will be able to attend a care and supervision program at the school from Tuesday 24 March
  2. Please let me know if you require holiday program places for your children over the Term 1 holidays due to the State of Emergency
  3. I am also happy to work with vulnerable children and their families/carers to establish if they will require a care and supervision program over the Term 1 holiday.

The Department will then work with us to determine the level of provision of holiday programs that can be provided over these coming holidays.

Warm regards,
Kelly Panousieris
