about Humanities at Braybrook College.
Students at Braybrook College study Humanities for four periods a week as a core subject from Years 7-10. We also offer History at Year 11 and 12 VCE. Students are encouraged to gain a deeper understanding of the topics through discussion, group activities, major projects, presentations, incursions, guest speakers, excursions and structured exams at the end of each semester.Students are actively encouraged to participate in Humanities co-curricular activities run throughout the year. These include the National Geographic Australian Geography Competition, The Asia-Wise Quest and Humanities Week, a week-long celebration of all things History and Geography.What we offerAt all year levels students are offered an array of topics and experiences that encourage a depth in understanding of their local community, Australia and the wider world. Many of our students are eager participants in the Australian History Competition.

Students in Year 7 study History skills, Ancient civilisations, Geospatial skills, Endangered species and the Asia-Pacific region.At Year 8 students study Medieval and Renaissance society, Weather and Climate and Rainforest environmentsAt Year 9 students study Australian history until 1900.At Year 10 students study the impact of 20th Century conflicts, the Great Depression, Climate Change, Urban Development and Developing World issues.Humanities is also pleased to offer subjects in the elective blocks such as Movies, Mind and Meaning (Philosophy), Community History and Asia-Pacific studies.At VCE, Braybrook is one of a small number of schools that offer 20th Century History at Unit 1 and 2, and History Revolutions at Units 3 and 4.
