Year 12 Volleyball Team - VVJO Champions
The Braybrook College Year 12 Volleyball Team accomplished a monumental achievement by claiming the Gold Medal at the Victorian Volleyball Junior Open (VVJO) 2024 held in Dandenong.
The Braybrook College Year 12 Volleyball Team accomplished a monumental achievement by claiming the Gold Medal at the Victorian Volleyball Junior Open (VVJO) 2024 held in Dandenong. They are only the second team from Braybrook College to do so. The VVJO is a prestigious tournament held over three days, where teams play five matches to determine their ladder positions, with the top four progressing to the Semi-Finals.
The team faced fierce competition during the group stage but prevailed against every opponent in their division. They finished the round robin stages undefeated with a flawless win/loss record of 5-0.
Braybrook were matched up against Thomas Carr Catholic College in the Semi Finals and managed to seal a 2-1 victory (16-25, 25-21, 15-8) The final was against Heathdale Catholic College and was played at a very high intensity, and the match went the distance, with both teams having match points. Braybrook were finally able to put Heathdale away winning 2-1 (25-23, 19-25, 18-16).
I want to take this opportunity to thank the Year 12 boys for their hard work, effort and dedication throughout the year. At the start of the year, 8 of these boys were rejected from the Senior Volleyball Team and despite that setback, they asked me to step in and Coach them as the B Team. They were enthusiastic, passionate and all they wanted was a chance.
It wasn’t a smooth journey, with the majority of these boys having played little to no volleyball until the start of this year. But their desire to improve and prove everyone wrong has been a privilege to witness as their Coach. These Year 12 boys attended training at 7:45am, twice a week and even took time out of their busy final year of schooling to play practice matches against other schools.
I am so proud of these boys and what they have achieved. Thank you to the wonderful Braybrook College community for supporting the boys throughout the year and during the tournament. Many of their peers made the effort to support these boys and traveled all the way to Dandenong to do so.
Congratulations to the following players!
