Staff and students at Braybrook College are active participants in the school’s environment program. With an increasing focus on climate change, the College has identified numerous areas in which the school can become more sustainable, and has received recognition for its efforts over the years. Some of our achievements in sustainability:
National Solar Schools Program
Braybrook College received funding from the Australian Government for the National Solar Schools Program. Braybrook College received additional funding from the Victorian Government’s Solar in Schools Initiative. Our solar panels are installed on the school roof and are generating electricity for the school. Excess power will be fed back to the grid.RecyclingBraybrook College has programs in place for recycling of paper, cardboard, bottles and cans. Student monitors assist with the running of these program.Water TankUsing some of the money from the Australian Government’s National Solar Schools Programme, Braybrook College has installed a 22,000 litre water tank to water our magnificent gardens.Lighting upgradeUsing some of the money from the Australian Government’s National Solar Schools Program, Braybrook College installed sensors and timers on lights as well as converting lights within several rooms to T5 efficient fluorescent globes.
