During Environment Week, students participate in engaging and informative activities about protecting our environment. These activities help students gain a better understanding ofenvironmental issues, involve a range of important learning areas including STEM and involve students in making our school, and the world, a more sustainable place. Our lunchtime activities included a sustainability scavenger hunt, planting native plants, a river-walk with a Maribyrnong River expert, an SRC Environment bake-sale and a “state of the environment” quiz with prizes. Our librarians also created an epic Environment Week display in the library to promote environment related books.
An important part of the week is our Year 7 Environment Day, when Year 7 students participate in environment related activities all day. These activities included tackling climate change with CERES environment educators, making recycled plastic creations with Precious Plastics, visiting different ecosystems through virtual reality with MindflightVR and learning how we can reuse products in a circular economy with Braybrook’s very own student-led Green Team. We concluded the day with a live podcast featuring our Green Team student-leaders and prizes for students who participated well throughout the day.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to this important week of learning.
