Braybrook College provides an extensive program to ensure both parents and students are comfortable about joining the College community and able to function with confidence and independence within the school. Coming from an environment where they may have one regular teacher throughout the year, students now have 9, sometimes 10 or 11 teachers. We have a very comprehensive Induction program, conducted over 3 days, where students are introduced to the basics of College life.
Starting with a General Assembly, students move to Year Level assemblies and later to Home Group Meetings where their timetables will be distributed and explained. They will also receive a college diary, which is designed to assist them in areas of organization and learning.
Induction begins with ‘Ice Breakers’ and ‘Team Building’, to make students a little more comfortable in each other’s company. Students then work through a number of sessions including Locker distribution, ICT and others).
The Induction Program helps Year 7s find their way around the complex aspects of secondary schooling.

Over the last few years, Braybrook College has experienced unprecedented demand for Year 7 places. For example, for entry in Year 7 in 2020, over 300 applications for places were received, far in excess of the school’s capacity to accommodate.As of 2017, living permanently in proximity to the College (designated neighbourhood school), as measured in a straight line from door to door, is the only guarantee of entry. Please be aware that if you present documents claiming residence at a particular address, the school may conduct checks to confirm this.The college enrols students into Year 7 in accordance with the Department of Education & Training (DET) Placement Policy. How to apply
All Year 7 applications are made using the Department of Education Transition form. This form is given out by Government and Independent primary schools at the end of Term 1 or beginning of Term 2 to Grade 6 students. Copies of the form are also available from the South Western Victorian regional office of the DET.If you are a Grade 6 parent, much of the information you require will be provided to you by your primary school. Do I have the right to appeal regarding my Year 7 enrolment outcome?
Unsuccessful parents and guardians may write to ask the Principal of Braybrook College for a review of a decision. A request for review must be in writing to the Principal, and can only be considered on the grounds that the selection criteria (above) were not appropriately applied or that the evidence presented was not appropriately considered.
